NOTE: The Scholarship Committee will settle all disputes on a participant: Grades eligibility (averages) and borderline cases.
Year of birth determines "League Age" which is the participant's age as of July 31st of the current calendar year. Weight shown is "Certification Weight". Each player will weigh-in wearing shorts only and be certified as to exact weight.
All participants (i.e. Cheerleaders, Jr. Gremlin Division (Flag) and all Tackle Divisions require an annual physical examination) by a medical practitioner certifying that the participant is physically fit to participate in athletics. The physical examination is required before a participant may try out, practice, or participate in SGVJAAFC athletic competition. No physical prior to June 1st of current year.
UNDUE INFLUENCE-RECRUITMENT OF ATHLETES
The use of undue influence by any person or persons to secure or retain one or both parents or guardians of a student as residents may cause the student to be ineligible for participating in SGVJAAFC competition as well as high school athletics per California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Bylaws.
DEFINITION OF AMATEUR SPORTSMAN
An amateur sportsman is one who engages in sports solely for the pleasure, physical, mental, and social benefits he derives therefrom and to whom sports is nothing more than an avocation.
A. To be amateur under San Gabriel Valley Junior All-American Football Conference rules:
1. Players or coaches cannot play or coach for any monetary benefits such as cash, merchandise, or any compensation.
B. Compete under an assumed name, including competing on any outside tackle football team in the same season.
1. A player who has been registered and certified with the conference, who decides to play football in high school is ineligible to compete in the SGVJAAFC.
2. A player who competes under an assumed name can lose his/her amateur status in all sports for the rest of his/her life, but not limited to high school and college sports competition.
Please check with the listed franchise members in your community or surrounding communities or the Conference Office if you have any questions on athletic eligibility.
STUDENT PARTICIPATION - CONDUCT PENALTY
Student participation in athletics is a privilege. As an athlete, you are expected to conduct yourself in an exemplary manner at all times. During participation in San Gabriel Valley Junior All-American Football competition, a student who is ejected or disqualified from participating in the remainder of said game will be ineligible for the team's next scheduled game. A student ejected a second time will be declared ineligible for the remainder of the season.
NOTE: Any adult, carded member, or participant who physically assaults a game or event official shall be suspended from San Gabriel Valley Junior All-American Football Conference for life.
SATURDAY & SUNDAY SGVJAAFC GAME SCHEDULING
Because of the shortage of game officials from the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), which we use in our conference, we have to schedule league games on Saturdays and Sundays, starting as early as 8:00 a.m. and going into the evening as late as 7:00 p.m.
Conference understands the commitments relating to, or devoted to religious beliefs or observances of all of the family members, the participants and to all of the volunteers involved in the youth football program. For this we apologize for the inconvenience.
HOW TO PROTECT YOUR ATHLETIC ELIGIBILITY
Your school years will be highlighted by your participation in a football athletic program. These will be some of the most enjoyable years of your young life. During this time, the San Gabriel Valley Junior All-American Football Conference has standards that you must meet in order to be eligible to compete. In addition, there may be local school standards which apply.
Information contained in this pamphlet will acquaint you with the bylaws and regulations all students must follow in order to protect athletic eligibility.
The eligibility standards of the San Gabriel Valley Junior All-American Football Conference have been adopted by member cities and were accepted by your conference representatives when it became a SGVJAAFC member.
A player must play within his/her own franchise boundaries. Any franchise knowingly signing a player outside their boundaries will be assessed a fine per player and their franchise placed on probation. Place of legal residence determines player's eligibility not where participant attends school. Any player residing in a non-franchise area is a "free agent". Contact the Conference Office for information on the "free agent" rule.
COMPETING UNDER A NAME OTHER THAN YOUR OWN OR USING A FALSIFIED ADDRESS
Participant(s)/parent(s) who knowingly fail to provide complete and accurate information regarding eligibility to participate in SGVJAAFC shall be declared ineligible to represent their city franchise for one (1) year following the date of the discovery of the falsified information.
